ABOUT THE WORKSHOP:
Participants in our workshop gain essential skills and knowledge for safer outdoor adventures. They’ll learn to navigate rivers and water bodies confidently, avoid hazards, handle emergencies, and minimize their environmental impact. Festival goers leave better prepared, ensuring thrilling experiences while prioritizing safety and preserving the natural world.
LEARNING OUTCOME:
Attendees will gain a comprehensive understanding of the various hazards associated with river and water activities, including strong currents, rapids, waterfalls, floating debris, and encounters with wildlife. They’ll learn practical strategies for hazard avoidance, such as selecting appropriate activities based on their skill level, using the right gear, and scouting watercourses before entry. In case they encounter a hazard, participants will also be trained in staying composed, signaling for assistance, and employing self-rescue techniques.
Furthermore, the workshop emphasizes the importance of proactive safety measures for outdoor adventures. This includes checking weather forecasts, informing someone of their plans, carrying essential gear, and recognizing their physical limitations. Additionally, festival goers will be educated about staying hydrated in hot weather, the risks associated with alcohol and drugs in the outdoors, tick and insect bite prevention, and how to handle wildlife encounters.
By the conclusion of this session, participants will emerge as well-informed and safety-conscious outdoor enthusiasts, ready to enjoy festivals and outdoor adventures responsibly. Armed with this knowledge, they’ll be better prepared to revel in the beauty of the outdoors while minimizing risks and preserving the natural environment.
